Lexus Model
Information App
Product specialists at auto shows spend much of their time with consumers discussing the cars and answering questions. The Lexus model information app was designed to help specialists answer questions and present Lexus vehicle specs and colors.
User experience and interface choices came from the view that everything in the app should be shared with the consumer. Other considerations were ease of navigation, together with human and technical factors in using a tablet at a live event.
Human Considerations A key feature of the design was optimizing legibility and speed of navigation. As a tool intended for real-time use at an event, the interface needed to surface vehicle information quickly, and clearly. This meant prioritizing information hierarchy, and reducing scan time through consistent visual patterns. Key specs needed to be accessed quickly in the crowded conditions of an event environment. Touch targets, contrast levels, and layout density were designed to support fast, confident interaction by product specialists to share with attendees.
Ease of Access to Vehicle Information The key feature of the app is ease in presenting relevant vehicle information. Discussions with product specialists and observational research at auto shows ended up dictating the design of the interface. Most important was the ability to find the model and pricing information, followed by color and interior options.
The information hierarchy was based on this and the main app screen was designed to display all models and could be filtered by a number of categories.
